Local SEND Support during the Coronavirus Outbreak

In order to reduce the spread of Covid-19 local SEND support services are suspending face-to-face meetings and are asking people to phone, email or use other digital routes to keep in contact.  

This is how local services are doing this-

Health Visiting and School Nursing Universal Service- from 1 April 2020 the health visiting and school nursing services will be offering a 7 day a week 9am-5pm duty line on 0330 058 1679 for parents and young people to call for support and advice or email  The duty line will be staffed by an administrator, Health Visitor and School Nurse - Full COVID-19 Offer.

Special Needs Assessment Service (SNAS).  If you have an enquiry about an EHC Plan or EHC Assessment,  please email . Please email with your child’s school in the subject bar and in the content of the email your child’s name, your contact details and brief details of your enquiry. We can then ensure the right member of the team gets back to you as soon as possible.

If your child does not have a school place currently, please write ‘no school place’ in the subject bar.

The Early Years SEND Support Services, Portage, Early Support, Parent and Child Development and West Hill Enhanced Children Centre.  All teams are providing emotional support to parents through regular contact via phone, Skype, texting, WhatsApp, etc. with a focus for families with increased levels of vulnerability.

Unique Youth at George Shearing - is developing a series of YouTube and/or Instagram Shorts for parents and child/young people of key messages and topics which are of interest.  They can also provide emotional support for parents and regular 1:1 touching base contact for child/young people to support them with topics of interest or causing concern.
