Children and young people with special educational needs all have learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for them to learn than most children of the same age.
Children and young people with special educational needs may require extra help because of a range of needs, such as in thinking and understanding, physical or sensory difficulties, difficulties with their speech and language or how they relate to and behave with other people.
The leaflet attached on the right sets out how you can expect your child's school to support them to learn.
You can also read the guide for schools, 'Provision for children with SEN in mainstream schools' also attached right.
