St George's Healthcare provides many hospital-based services for children, both acute and specialist in nature. These conditions may require either short or long term treatment.

Children are mainly treated at the hospital as the result of trauma (accidents) or by referral from a GP or other primary medical professional. Some are treated as inpatients, requiring a stay in one of the children's wards, or as outpatients, where the child attends an appointment in a particular department for treatment.
