Special Educational Needs and Disability Inclusion Fund - Info for Providers and Parents

This SEN & Disability Inclusion Fund (SENDIF) is for 2- and 3- and 4- year olds who are taking up their Early Years funded entitlement. This fund is available to ensure the inclusion of children with additional needs in early education.

All early year’s providers who are eligible to receive funding for the 2- 3- and 4-year-old early education entitlement are also eligible to receive support from the SEND inclusion fund.

The maximum amount that can be applied for, per child, is:

  • For 2-year olds: £2000 per term
  • For 3- and 4-year olds: £1000 per term (please note, the SENDIF is not available for children in reception classes)

An application form needs to be completed and submitted every term

Under the Equality Act 2010, providers in receipt of Government Funding are expected to make “reasonable adjustments” and not to “treat children less favourably” by reason of disability. There is an expectation that settings are planning for children’s individual needs in line with EYFS requirements.

The document under 'Downloads' is a guide for providers explaining what the SEN Inclusion Fund is, how to apply for it, and the various stages within the application process.
