‘By the child, for the child’, a short film made by young people about speech therapy
For young people with Speech, Language and Communication needs, secondary school can be particularly demanding. Wandsworth is one of the few Boroughs who are able to support this increasing cohort of pupils by providing specialist SLT services at secondary level. A selection of Wandsworth pupils have made a film to show the difference the service is making to their lives.
Speech and Language therapists work with children and young people who have speech and language impairments and difficulties. Therapists work across a range of areas to diagnose and treat these conditions.
This service is for children and young people aged 0 to 16 years.
The speech and language therapy service offers help with:
- speech sound difficulties;
- language or voice problems; and
- issues around feeding and swallowing.
The team provide support for families and staff from a variety of settings, so that they can help the child to reach their full potential in their everyday lives.
