Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)

The Picture Exchange Communication System (Or PECS for short) is an augmentative/alternative communication system developed in America in the 1980's.

It is designed to help non-verbal children, especially those on the autistic spectrum (and those with related developmental disabilities) to communicate and to learn. PECS is used in Wandsworth Special Schools such as Greenmead and Paddock.
