The Bookstart programme provides free packs of books to babies and toddlers.
This is a national campaign that encourages parents and carers to share the joy of reading with their children.
The packs are available for:
- 0-12 months - Bookstart Baby Pack
- 3-4 year olds - Bookstart Treasure Pack
There are also packs specifically for hearing impaired and visually impaired children. These are called Bookshine and Booktouch. These are given out by Oak Lodge School and Linden Lodge School.
To claim the free packs contact your local health visitor / local health clinic, Children's Centres setting or local library (childminders can buy the packs). For further information, or if there is no scheme operating in your area, or you encounter any other problems, you can telephone the service or contact them through the website here.
