Dramatherapy

Dramatherapy is a psychotherapy approach that uses creative art forms (i.e. story, movement, play, drama, puppetry, music and art) to explore feelings, needs and personal issues in a safe, confidential space.

These sessions are for children and young people aged 5-16 years living in Lambeth with varying needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), neuro-developmental needs, social communication/interaction difficulties, emotional or behavioural needs.

Dramatherapy can:

  • promote self esteem;
  • improve social communication/interaction skills;
  • develop use of the imagination;
  • develop self identity and awareness;
  • improve listening skills and the ability to work with others; and
  • help to develop empathy.

Referral only. Referrals are made through SENCOs, parents, healthcare or social service professionals via the Dramatherapy Referral Form.

Contact Emily Rothon to find out more about the service and discuss the needs of the child/young person. Sessions may be open to Wandsworth children and young people.

Once a referral is made and agreed, a suitable place will be offered in a group at one of the four locations in Lambeth.

Groups start at the beginning of each term and run for ten weeks.At the end of the ten week group intervention an evaluation report is provided for the referrer and parent.
