WKC Supported Internship

The WKC Supported Internship is a work-based learning programme which combines in-class learning and work experience within a real employment setting. The programme is designed to give people with learning and/or physical disabilities the guidance and encouragement to develop new skills to gain paid employment.

When you are on the programme you will:

• be placed with an employer(s) for the minimum of 5 months for at least 5 hours per week

• study Employability Skills, numeracy and literacy in the classroom

• be assigned a Job Coach to provide you with tailored one-to-one support in the work place

• receive personalised travel training support

• learn about further opportunities for employment and apprenticeships

• have access to a wide range of welfare and wellbeing support

Eligibility criteria

Aged 16-24

EHC Plan

Entry 2 or higher level English and maths

Aspiration to progress into paid employment
