Autism Exchange Work Placements, from Ambitious about Autism
The ‘Autism Exchange’ programme was originally piloted with the Civil Service in 2015 and 2016, and later with Santander and Deutsche Bank (offering work placements for between 2-10 young people for a period of weeks/months). It aims to get more young people with autism into the workplace by providing them with the employability skills, work experience and support they need to enter the job market.
- Ambitious about Autism also work with Colleges and universities to provide young people with tailored information, training and support to prepare them for their work experience.
- Employers are supported to become ‘autism confident’ through training and support provided by Ambitious about Autism, with every manager receiving basic autism awareness training to support them during the programme.
We are now developing relationships with more employers to introduce the programme and widen the opportunities available to young people with autism.
More information is available on our website, including the current opportunities open to young people. Most can simply be applied for by sending a CV. For the civil service programme, there is a simple application form which is also available for download on the site.
