Improvements coming to the Lady Allen Adventure Playground

Some great news to share. The Lady Allen Playground is about to undergo a major improvement and works are being planned across the site. These will include improvements to the children’s inside play area, toileting, hygiene and shower areas, the kitchen, lighting, plus other works to the outside of the building; and a new perimeter fence. There will also be a new perimeter fence, which in addition to improving the look of the playground will also significantly enhance site security.

The playground will have to close whilst the works are being completed. Regular users of Lady Allen will know that it does close at various points throughout the year.  The works will be phased and scheduled around the usual closure weeks, which are traditionally the quieter periods for the playground.  The closure dates are set out below:

Phase one 4th – 29th January 2021
Phase two 1st – 26th March 2021
Phase three 4th September – 1st October 2021

To lessen the impact to families there will be an alternative short break offer.  Some of this will be during the closure periods and some will be through offering additional days from the Lady Allen site over the coming year.  This will include being open over the Christmas holiday period from 20th – 23rd December 2020, opening on Saturdays during other holiday periods and making an offer from other local venues. If your child has a short break through the 0-25 Disability Team, please contact them, details below, to see what other support can be available during this time.
