Paediatric Psychology Service at St George's Hospital

St George’s NHS Trust Paediatric Psychology Service offers help to people with psychological issues relating to treatment they (or members of their family) are receiving at the hospital.
Clinical Psychologists are trained in the understanding of how people think, feel and behave. It is the Paediatric Psychology Service's responsibility to help children and families cope with the psychological aspects of health and illness.
People contact this service for lots of reasons, for example anxiety about hospital procedures; coping with pain; trauma following an accident; effects of the illness on family members; stress related symptoms and management of children in hospital.
This service works by talking with children and/or their parents to try and work out how best they can help. Sometimes this will involve meeting several times, or possibly only once or twice. The service sees people either as out-patients or when they are staying in the hospital.
