West Thames College
West Thames College is a successful college of further and higher education with a friendly atmosphere. The college has two sites, the main Isleworth campus and the Feltham Skills Centre.
West Thames College offers courses in many subjects and levels, from NVQ to BTEC, HND and Foundation Degree. The majority of courses are for students aged 16+, but the College also offers vocational courses for 14-16 year olds studying in local schools, supported learning courses for young people with learning and other disabilities.
The Isleworth campus was completely rebuilt 2009-2012. The facilities now rank amongst the best colleges in London, and include: a Learning Resource Centre, a Sports Hall and Gym, a 140-seat Theatre, Student Common Rooms and Canteens, Media and Music Studios, Dance / Performance Studios, Hair and Beauty Salons and Makeup Studios.
At the heart of the Isleworth campus is the elegant Spring Grove House, originally home to the famous botanist Sir Joseph Banks.
Opened in September 2011, the Sir Joseph Banks building houses Science Labs, Art & Design Studios, IT Suites and more classrooms. The outdoor areas are landscaped with lawns and sports pitches.
The Feltham Skills Centre has a smaller campus with a friendly atmosphere, offering a range of trade courses in West London. About 650 students study at the Skills Centre to gain the practical skills needed for careers in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Engineering, Catering or Construction trades (Plumbing, Brickwork, Painting & Decorating, Electrical Installation and Carpentry).
The College excellent links with employers too, so there are lots of job and apprenticeship opportunities.
The Feltham Skills Centre has its own common room, careers advisers, library, IT suite, outdoor leisure activities (free!) and a canteen serving delicious meals prepared by catering students. Students at Feltham also have full access to the Isleworth campus.
