The Children and Families Act and the Care Act 2014-Links

The Children and Families Act 2014  introduces changes starting in September 2014 and from April 2015 the Care Act 2014 will become law.  The Care Act  modernises English adult (over 18 year olds) social care law.

These two pieces of legislation will greatly affect support for disabled young people preparing for adulthood.

Part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014, is about Special Educational Needs and Disability.  Part 1 of the Care Act, focuses on the care and support of adults with care and support needs and is due to be implemented in April 2015.

Preparing for Adulthood and the Council for Disabled Children have created a factsheet on the link between the two Acts.
