Papworth Trust

Papworth Trust is a charity that supports disabled people and their carers with a range of services and advice. Their aim is to help disabled people to have equality, choice and independence in their lives.
The charity describes itself as “pan-disability”, meaning it works with people with any kind of disability. This includes anyone who has a long-term health issue, learning difficulty, physical disability, sensory impairment, mental health issue or a combination of these or other impairments. The services available across London include:
- Information and advice
- Support and advice to help you adapt, improve or repair your home
- Supported short breaks for the whole family at Kerry Farm in Wales
- Rehabilitation for people who have had a life changing injury
The rehabilitation service aims to help people return to a productive and independent lifestyle, a life changing injury caused by an accident, trauma or ill health. The main goal in the programme for most clients is to become work ready. Papworth Trust has an in-house team that offers tailored support after an assessment, which usually takes place at the person’s home. The service can help people at any time, from immediately after an accident to a number of years after acquiring their injuries. The support on offer includes:
- Flexible programmes designed for the individual
- Therapeutic work placements
- Help updating skills and retraining
- Help finding suitable careers
- Occupational therapy - aids and adaptations for work and home
- Confidence building
- Physiotherapy - strength and stamina building
