Baby Steps Childminding
Hi, my name is Lisa and I am a professional Ofsted Registered Childminder.
I run a co-childminding service based in Battersea with my mum, who is also a registered childminder, where we aim to provide a fun and cosy home-like environment where children can grow and meet their full potential.
We are situated right in the heart of Battersea, where our business is surrounded by a wealth of child-friendly facilities. We are within walking distance from the Battersea Park Children's Zoo and Adventure Playground. Just around the corner is the Latchmere Leisure Centre that offers an under 5's ball pit. Close by we also have the BAC (Battersea Art Centre) which has the Bee's Knee's indoor play area for under 5's and the Lavender Hill Library that does Baby Rhyme and Storytimes.
There are also plenty of transport links to get you to and from the area. Clapham Junction Train Station is only 0.7 miles away from us, so about a 20-minute stroll or a 4-minute bus ride. At the bottom of our street is Battersea Park Road where the following buses stop: 44, 344, 345, 319. However, if you drive then there are also pay and display machines all along our quiet residential street.
Our newly refurbished childminding setting is fully equipped with a range of age-appropriate toys and resources. We have everything from baby changing facilities to interactive learning games for older children, so your little one will be well cared for and always have plenty to do. They will also benefit from our regular day trips out to the local parks and other child-friendly venues and enjoy homemade nutritious meals.
We care for children from 0-8 years.
We are open Monday to Friday from 8am-6pm and are also open during half terms and summer holidays.
Please note that we do not offer childcare on weekends or bank holidays.

Where to go
Our playroom was specifically designed for our childminding business and was completed in January 2019.
The room benefits from underfloor heating and an easy-clean tiled floor.
We have a soft reading/sensory corner with bespoke floor and wall cushioning which has become a favourite little nook for our other children.
There is a selection of toys for all ages e.g. Baby soft, cuddle, noise and light up toys/Dolls, dollhouse, cars, toy garage, robots, transformers, play-doh, trains, books and puzzles/Interactive (Child Protected) computer with a range of learning games/sensory tent, bubble lamp, fidget toys.
The room is also the place where we encourage children to sit to the table and eat small snacks, learning to hold eating utensils and promote good table manners.
Our garden consists of a small astroturfed area which is used for sand trays and messy play. We also have a summer house with cushioned flooring that contains other children's toys for outdoor activities e.g. Child size prams, ball pit, jumbo blocks, footballs and skipping ropes.
In our garden, we are lucky to have a large raised fish pond (completely netted for safety) where children are able to get involved at feeding times. We also have some raised flower beds planted with large tropical ferns and our beloved olive tree, and also a small slabbed area for dining alfresco and enjoying BBQ's. The garden is connected to the playroom and allows the children the freedom to safely manoeuvre between these two areas under adult supervision.
THE CHILD-FRIENDLY TOILET
When we refurbish the playroom we didn't just stop there, we also completely upgraded the downstairs toilet. The low rise toilet can be used by both adults and children, but when the children use it the toilet converts to child-size by the use of a nifty dual sized toilet seat and step. The sink is a small size, fitted low down with a push top tap, the water temperature is regulated to ensure no burns and soap dispenser and hand tissues are also easy to reach. This is the perfect place to help with toilet training young ones and is also conveniently located right next to our playroom, meaning children will be able to reach the toilet faster.
OTHER GREAT THINGS
Our setting also benefits from a security gate and CCTV, allowing us to make sure all areas are safe at all times. The children have the use of our main family room where they can enjoy quiet time and is sometimes used as a sleeping area for travel cots during the day.
Children are also welcome in our new American style kitchen, where they can get involved in baking and have access to fresh drinking water all day.
Our venue is a must-see. so, please give us a call and book an appointment to arrange a visit.
Parking restrictions on our street apply from: Monday to Friday 9.30 am - 4.30 pm
Please note that our street is a one-way zone and can not be entered to via Battersea Park Road. Therefore, we polity ask you use a sat nav if you have one and plan your journey responsibly to adhere to road laws.
